Thank you for your interest in being a part of the Dorrigo Folk & Bluegrass Festival Photography team for 2018. The team is open to experienced, amateur or qualified photographers alike so please apply today!

As places are limited, to be eligible to apply you will be required to meet the following criteria:

  • Be already using your camera to take photos
  • Access to a DSLR camera is recommended but if you shoot film, the final images will need to be provided in a high resolution scanned format. We’d love to see what results you get from different types of camera formats such as polaroid, medium format, box brownies or alike, so please let us know if that is something you enjoy producing
  • Be able to complete 6 volunteer hours. This includes 3 hours rostered festival photography and 3 hours post production work on the images, from your home
  • You must be available to attend the Pre–festival Event Photography Workshop
  • Preference will be given to local photographers from the town of Dorrigo and Bellingen shire
  • A smart phone and off camera flash is ideal but not essential.

The Workshop – Festival Photography 101
Louise Walpole is an accredited Professional Photographer with a passion for events who will share everything you need to know to successfully capture your favourite festival. Please note that this isn’t a workshop on the basic operation of camera, you will have some knowledge of a DSLR camera operation and be actively taking pictures already.

When – Thursday the 25th October, 10-12pm
Where – Hickory House (Community support centre) 50 Hickory Street, Dorrigo, NSW, 2453
Cost – Complimentary when accepted as part of the Volunteer Photography Team

  • How to map your day - Where to be and when
  • Putting light on the subject - How to deal, when it’s not ideal
  • Putting light on the subject - Flash... or not to flash?
  • The Moment - How to pick or create one
  • The Moment - How to shoot to a brief for media
  • The Moment - How to approach smart phone coverage
  • The important stuff - Release forms, privacy and legislation
  • A quick run down on how to sort, edit, categorise and output your fabulous images
  • Customer experience - Making it a fantastic experience for everyone involved – Part 2

How Do I apply?

Please complete the volunteer application online and select “other” under Volunteer preferences and add “Photography team” in the Additional comments field. Please include a link to an online gallery if you have one, if not we will contact you directly and request to see a small sample of your photos.

You will be allocated with your complimentary weekend festival ticket at the Photography workshop.
