String Theories mix the heart of a folk string band, the complexity of a jazz quartet and the detail of a classical chamber ensemble into one cohesive whole.
A Blue Mountains based trio exploring the world of 'New Acoustic' music. Evocative, intricate and sophisticated music featuring steel-string guitar, mandolin, dobro, violin, viola and vocals.
At the modern edge of bluegrass and folk music, they draw on broad influences reminiscent of Classical, Jazz, Blues and more but falling into no particular
category. Both highly structured and improvised, the music they create is rich and diverse, effortlessly moving between genres, they stretch far beyond the folk and bluegrass sounds inherent in their instruments.
String Theories have created their own unique take on this emerging, genreless string music with their debut album
"Waking the Deep". The album showcases their ability to write complex, yet accessible pieces as well as their incredible
facility on their chosen instruments.
"The thing about String Theories is that they make it look so easy. It isn't! These guys are masters at their craft . . . yet the music is so accessible and entertaining. Just loved having this band open for us on our NSW Reunion Tour dates in 2014." (Genni Kane, lead singer - Flying Emus - multi Golden Guitar and ARIA Award winning band)
