Georgia State Line

GSL18Georgia State Line are a Melbourne based collective hailing from various parts of small town Victoria. Fronted by singer-songwriter Georgia Delves, their music is a blend of oldtime and contemporary country. Drawing inspiration from the classics of Emmylou Harris and Linda Ronstadt, Delves centres her writing on the bittersweet balancing act between growing up and staying young, all the while backed by a band rich in the swells of pedal steel.
Delves grew up in the regional Victorian town of Bendigo. Here she studied classical voice and violin and performed in Catholic school choirs, whilst after school cutting her teeth in the local pub scene. Growing up in a family of music lovers, she was ultimately influenced by grandparents who introduced her to American country music of the 60’s/ 70’s, Patsy Cline and Willie Nelson. Delves relocated to Melbourne, VIC in 2014 and formed the band in 2016.
The group have performed at National Folk Festival 2017, Dashville Skyline Festival 2017 and showcased as part of Australian Music Week 2017 via AMAA. Most recently their latest offering, debut EP ‘Heaven Knows’ saw a warm reception for the clan, quickly labelling them as “one of Australia’s best up-and-coming” country acts (Art News Portal), garnering nods from Paul Gough (ABC Radio National) and scoring supporting slots alongside blues artist, Eilen Jewell (USA).
"Many Australian artists refer to themselves as Americana or alt country these days, but very few deliver the real thing as well as Georgia State Line. Hailing from Melbourne but sounding like Texas or Tennessee, this band represents the true essence of today's country music." - Bill Chambers
