2017's Performers

The Northern Folk

59092b2d10d12 TNF 10Hailing from Albury, NSW and now based in Melbourne, The Northern Folk are a collective of eleven musical ambitionists spreading their unique brand of folk/pop/stomp/rock into the roots of small towns and big cities alike. Soaring saxes, roaring brass, and bashful bass frame the band's two lead vocals, with multi-layered harmonies and addictive percussion in tow. From intimate ballads to big-band boot stompers, The Northern Folk's big sound proves flexible both on stage and on record, and is continuing to earn them a following wherever they travel. Stemming from the release of their two LP's in 2015 and 2016, The Northern Folk have been riding a growing wave of momentum that has seen them leave lasting impressions at major music events, including Swagger Music Festival (2014, 2015), Panacea Music Festival (2015), Yackandandah Folk Festival (2016), Mt. Beauty Music Festival (2016), Cool Summer Festival (2016), Bendigo Blues and Roots Festival (2016), Folk, Rhythm and Life (2016), Healesville Music Festival (2016), and recently Illawarra Folk Festival, Aireys Inlet Open Mic Festival, Cobargo Folk Festival and Candelo Village Festival (all 2017). They have also frequented smaller festivals including Happy Wanderer Music Festival (2015 and 2016), and Uranquinty Folk Festival (2016). This momentum has culminated in a recent move to Melbourne for the band from humble beginnings. The near future involves a planned single and video clip release, return trips to Bendigo Blues and Roots, Panacea and Healesville Music Festivals, and debuts at Harvest Festival, Kangaroo Valley Folk Festival and By The Banks Music Festival.
