Fireside Celts & Friends

firesidecelts“Fireside Celts” are a seven piece group that interweave Scottish Smallpipes with guitar, keyboard, fiddle, cello, whistles, harmonium, banjo, vocal and a variety of Celtic percussion to voice Scottish and Irish melodies. Many of these tunes found their way into Australian Bush and Appalachian Folk music.

You can catch these historic pipes at “Fireside Celts” concert slot on Saturday morning, also at the Grand Scottish Ceilidh on Saturday afternoon (heralded in by a lone Highland piper) and you can find out lots more about our music at our workshop on Sunday. Bring your instruments along.

Hear some of the best local Celtic musicians playing lofty airs, uplifting marches and the full range of Celtic dance styles, such as strathspeys, reels, jigs, hornpipes and polkas. Fireside Celts are:- Rod McGrath,(Pipes, whistles); Lindsay Morley,(keyboard, guitar, pipes); Mick Giles,(banjo, guitar, bouzouki, vocal, dance caller, harmonica); Annie McLeod (fiddle, cello); Duncan McIvor,(pipes); Eamon McGrath (Harmonium, keyboard) and Johanne McGrath (percussion).

Music ranges from contemporary to centuries old tunes commemorating events, people and places. All telling beautiful stories.
