New Photo Galleries

We have updated our photo galleries with new photos from the last 2 festivals, so why not have a look, you might see someone you recognise, or maybe even see yourself  there.

The Mae Trio

Mae Trio 2016 640We first saw these girls playing with some "wise" girls from the West, its been lovely to see their developing journey through music.

The Mae Trio will soon be leaving our shores for another exciting tour including the Edmonton Folk Festival (Canada) in August.

Incorporating stellar three-part harmonies, complex arrangements and lyrical sophistication, these youngsters are on a rapid rise.
Recipients of the Folk Alliance Australia Youth Award, the prestigious Maton Class Act Award and the NFSA Folk Recording of the Year for their debut album "Housewarming", The Mae Trio have made a colourful splash globally including international performances from Celtic Connections to Folk Alliance International in Kansas City, MIDEM Festival in Cannes and Americana Festival in Nashville, not to mention a string of shows at Australia’s leading festivals from Port Fairy Folk Festival to Blue Mountains Music Festival.

The Mae Trio consists of Maggie Rigby (banjo, ukuleles, guitar, marimba and vocals), Elsie Rigby (violin, ukulele and vocals) and Anita Hillman (cello, bass and vocals) they started playing together in 2011, and the last year has seen the band burst onto the international scene. Their debut album "Housewarming" was produced by Luke Plumb of Shooglenifty and features percussionist extraordinaire James Mackintosh also of Shooglenifty fame.

It is a rare treat to experience such unique instrumentation and spine-tingling harmonies, and The Mae Trio promises bucketloads of both.

Alesa Lajana

We are having very welcome rain on the plateau this weekend. We remember fondly when we started the festival in the Autumn rains hence the move to October where we have been very lucky to pass the weekend with the sun shining (most years anyway).

We'd like to welcome to the festival for the first time Alesa Lajana, whom we are very excited about.

Alesa Lajana is an award winning Australian singer-songwriter, storyteller, guitarist and banjoist. For the last eight years she has travelled the dusty highways of Australia, collecting stories from post European contact history, and setting them to music.

Her new album "Frontier Lullaby" is the collection of songs and stories from this wild and epic adventure, leading listeners on a heartfelt journey through shadowy chapters of Australian history. The album features collaborations with multi Grammy award winner Bela Fleck, Aria winners Amy Saunders and Julian Curwin, Australian songwriting icon and Order of Australia recipient Shane Howard, and iconic session players Kirk Lorange and Luke Moller.
As a singer and a storyteller, Lajana is full of sweet wit, genuine gratitude and a natural friendliness that makes the whole experience so relaxed and joyful. Each song is the perfect vehicle to show off Lajana's considerable instrumental talent on both the acoustic guitar and acoustic lap-steel slide guitar and her powerful and highly polished voice. - Australian Stage
"She plays with authority, musicality, and also an unrushed quality that usually takes players years to come by - maturity in other words. She's one very impressive musician, and I look greatly forward to hearing more from her through what will doubtless be a long and successful career." - Jeff Lang

Cielle Montgomery new EP released

Cielle Montgomery has released her debut recording a EP titled "Walking Free" in March this year, listeners will be left wondering where this songstress has been hiding.

On the 6 track offering, Montgomery’s songs cover the inner struggle with the uncertainness of change, as well as, two very different stories, one about the loss of a loved one in Long Gone, the other, a murder tale recounting the tragedy of a marital assassination in Smoke and Mirrors. The EP ends fittingly on the subject of finding our way through the cards we’re dealt, with Travellin’ On, a co-write with Australian songwriting legend Kevin Bennett.
